How The System Works…
Water-inflated cofferdam flood control barriers have proven to be very effective tools for flood protection. Affordable, effective, safe and easy to install, they save time, labor and money when compared to sandbags and other flood control devices.
AquaDams® are portable dams filled with onsite water that can be installed wherever needed to control, contain or divert the flow of water. The dam consists of two basic components: two watertight inner polyethylene tubes which contain the water and the "master tube" (made of a heavy-duty geotextile woven polypropylene) which keeps the two inner tubes in contact when filled. This combination of tubes forms the AquaDam®.
The two inner tubes are filled with water to inflate the AquaDam®. The durable woven outer tube confines the water-inflated inner tubes and prevents them from moving away from each other. Counter friction/hydraulic pressure between the inner tube and the outer tube, along with the mass and weight of the water, creates pressure and stabilizes the dam…even when lateral water pressure is exerted against it. Because of the inherent flexibility of the materials used in their manufacture, the AquaDam® will conform to most surfaces, providing an excellent seal and keeping water seepage to a minimum.
Available in Various Configurations
The AquaDam® is available in a variety of sizes, ranging from 1 foot to 16 feet in height (when inflated). Large and small dams may be used in conjunction with each other and assembled in a straight line, to form an arc, connected at angles to each other or to encircle an entire area.

- Any length can be fabricated with prior notice
- A patented coupling-collar (standard with each AquaDam®) is used to extend two or more dams to whatever length is needed
- AquaDams are usually assembled at the factory to customer specifications then shipped rolled and ready for use at the jobsite
A typical AquaDam® consists of the "master tube" and a pair of inner tubes rolled up on a wooden or metal core. The core plays an important part in the installation, re-rolling and transportation of the dam.
